Specific skills: Laplace (CPAT) is specialized in both modelling and measuring glow discharge plasmas and has expertise in describing the coupling between the transport of charged particles and the electric and/or magnetic fields. The group has developed numerical models (fluid, particle or hybrid) to describe/understand the basic mechanisms involved in non equilibrium glow discharge plasmas for specific applications (plasma display panels, GD-OES) in conjunction with diagnostic experiments (electrical measurements, spectroscopy, fast imaging).

Research interest and role in the project :Laplace (CPAT) will bring expertise in understanding the RF plasma relatively to the ion formation and ion transport. Laplace will also bring ideas in the concept of a new lamp design and RF coupler to get rid of the complexities of the present historical design.
