University of Manchester
Specific skills: The University of Manchester has one of the broadest and diverse ranges of materials interests, encompassing metals, polymers, ceramics, paper and textiles. The “Corrosion and Protection Centre” is the world’s largest academic-based activity that is dedicated to corrosion and its control, with an international reputation for the excellence of its teaching and research. The understanding of corrosion and protection has led to the need for precise characterization including mass spectrometry, with the development of complementary approaches that allow probing from the nanoscale upwards.
Research interest and role in the project : Preparation and characterization of the dedicated samples to evaluate the units, correlation with surface techniques and GD-OES, evaluation of the limitations where relevant and routes forward determined.
